Today we went to a new music group. Singing, dancing & playing instruments, all great fun. We learnt new songs & created river-inspired music.
I might even dust off my saxophone or clarinet at some point!

Day 6 – organisation
Don’t take the lights off the Christmas tree and let them fall into a pile on the floor near the socket, then unplug everything (including lights still on the tree) – this results in a very jumbled mess!
Day 5 – Postal Bible School
We’ve just joined a Postal Bible School which the girls are enjoying. The are each sent a booklet with 4 sessions in and then when they are done they can send them back for marking. Points are added up and every so often they can cash then in for little gifts. The worksheets are fun for them – same Bible passage for both girls but more in depth for Imogen – with lots of colouring and puzzles.
Day 4 – play dough
Literacy & crafting combined. The girls have been playing with this stuff loads recently. Shame it smells horrid and gets everywhere!
Day 3 – baking
The girls have been watching Junior Bake Off on iplayer, and have been inspired to do some baking.
Bread is in the oven and now they are making little tarts. Imogen wants to make her’s into mini mince pies; Erica is going to fill them with a bit of chocolate spread and then cake mixture.
Day 2 – lego
Today is brought to you by Lego. We’ve had it in the house for a while, but until recently the girls have stuck mainly to the instructions. But since Dave created a tree house over Christmas, they have been exploring it more. Here Erica is working on the ‘coolest shopping trolley ever’!
Our year in photos
A few years ago I set myself the challenge of taking a photo a day for a year. And now I’m going to do it again. Back then all the photos did not have faces in them. This year I’m going to give a glimpse into our life, with a loose focus of HE. I say loose because for us, living is our education; the girls, in fact all of us, are learning all the time. I guess by sharing these photos I want to document some of this learning and development.
So here we go, day 1! And yes, there are two photos. If I can’t choose just one photo a day, there will be more.
Top Trumps, Wonders of the World. A simple game with so much learning involved. The girls have been reading numbers into 1000s and we’ve had discussions about height v depth and craters & mountains on the moon.
IQ puzzle, a stocking filler for Imogen that she is loving. The puzzles start simple and gradually get harder, so its great for her confidence.
